The first and main thing you need to know about Rack Performer is that it isn’t meant for the regular user. Who is it mean for, you ask? Why, it’s meant for musicians. Abeem Live Technologies, the company behind Rack Performer, created this tool to help live musicians at every step, from rehearsal to live performance.

You see, Rack Performer is professional audio software, a high-level modular environment hosting VST plugins and over a hundred internal modules. It comes with MIDI support, multi-channel audio I/O and internal processing, complete automatic patch-delay compensation, sample accurate sequencing, low jitter and latency. Everything a musician needs to get ready for stage performances.

To get started with Rack Performer, you will have to complete a standard installation procedure: download an installer, run it, follow the onscreen instructions. When you’re done and Rack Performer launches for the first time, a Welcome prompt will show up and ask you how you want to configure the application: automatic configuration, easy configuration wizard, or default configuration.

Abeem Live Technologies started work on Rack Performer back in December 2009. The application hit Beta in 2013, and was eventually rolled out as a stable 1.0 version in September 2014. At the time of writing this, the latest release is Rack Performer version 1.1, which was rolled out to the public in November 2014.

As mentioned above, Rack Performer is professional audio software – which means that it isn’t free. On the bright side, the demo version is fully functional, with document saving and audio recording being disabled though.

Rack Performer can prove to be very, very useful – if you’re a musician and you need a modular host to help you prep for your live stage performances.

Pros

The system requirements for running Rack Performer are quite low and installing it on a Windows PC is an effortless task. Quick start guides, video tutorials, and illustrated practical cases are available online. Rack Performer is a high-level modular environment hosting VST plugins and internal modules. The demo is fully functional.

Cons

Trial limitations: document saving and audio recording are disabled.
